Microsoft Technology workshop for educators

K.R.Mangalam University, Gurgaon has accomplished a successful refreshment programme for its faculty members to enhance their technical skills on the advanced and innovative applications of Microsoft ICT technologies available in academics. The renowned Saksham team from Bangaluru, led by Mr.Vamsidhar Pothula, Director, 3x3conect together with his team, conducted the 2-day Microsoft Technology Workshop on 14 & 15 June, 2016. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness and acquire 21st century skills for teaching with technology and building connectivity and knowledge network across the globe.

The session began with a detailed discussion on OneNote & ClassNote -the innovative tools to retain ideas. This was followed by practical hands-on experience to create and share interactive reports and presentations- using Office Mix and Sway. An in-depth knowledge was given for Live ID integration and Web Authentication. The workshop introduced the faculty members to complete domain management solutions for educational institutions and MCE Certifications. The training session enabled the faculty to write technical documents and create dynamic content, using WORD. An introduction to the basic data analysis tools and techniques was also given. The participants developed the skill to create a classroom from anywhere on any device using Skype. In the last session, a brief Introduction to Dreamspark and Microsoft Educator Network was given.

The sessions had been designed with the right blend of hands-on and experiential learning activities that enthused and kept the teachers engaged as they learnt how to integrate technology with education, and create and maintain the momentum of change in teaching-learning in higher education space. The workshop opened new windows to the many fold innovative applications of Microsoft technologies in education. The faculty members from the technical schools as well as the non-technical schools found it highly useful to make the new generation classes interesting and exciting. The scope for creating, sharing & recording study materials and academic information was indeed amazing, and will give a global status to the teaching - learning process at KRMU.

In the valedictory function of the workshop, the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) R.K.Mittal said, “Equipping faculty members to meet the educational needs of the today’s IT savvy students is one of the biggest challenges of Educational institutions. In this era of technology, K.R.Mangalam University has taken many steps to provide the best teaching-learning environment to faculty and students; and this was another apt step to conduct a Faculty Development Programme to update its faculty members with the latest and the most innovative applications of Microsoft Technology”. Prof. (Dr.) Brijesh Kumar, Dean, Academic Affairs along with his team members Ms.Parneeta Dhaliwal  and Dr.Ranjit Varma coordinated the programme successfully.
