Biography

Dr. Pawan Kumar, completed his B.Sc.(H) Physics and M.Sc. Physicsdegree from University of Delhi. During 2005-2007, he has taught Applied Physics course to B.Tech students at SITM, Lucknow.  After that he joined Department of PMSE, JIIT, Noida for PhD degree. In 2010 he got prestigious Senior Research Fellowship from CSIR, New Delhi and worked full time as a SRF in CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi where he has completed his PhD research work and got PhD degree on 17th June, 2013. He feels very fortunate to have Dr. H.K. Singh, Principal Scientist in CSIR-NPL and Dr. R. K. Dwivedi, Associate Professor in JIIT, Noida as supervisors for his PhD thesis.After his PhD, he got a Research Associate position at IUAC, New Delhi in June, 2013 where he got an opportunity to work with Dr. K. Asokan, Scientist-F, IUAC, New Delhi for his post-doctoral work on Swift Heavy Ion Irradiation Effecton Manganites thin films. He has published several research papers in International SCI journals. He also presented many research papers in international conferences. He also attended several workshops and conferences.

On 15th July, 2014 he joined K. R. Mangalam University as an Associate Professor of Physics in School of Basic & Applied Sciences. He is currently teaching physics courses to M.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. (H) Physics, and B.Tech students. Apart from teaching he is also involved in research work and many activities of the University.

Material Preparation Techniques

  • Epitaxial thin film (few nano-meters thin) preparation by DC and RF magnetron sputtering.
  • Thin film (hundred nano-meters to micro-meters thick) preparation by nebulized spray pyrolysis and spin coating techniques.
  • Polycrystalline bulk samples and bulk targets prepared by using solid state reaction (high temperature synthesis) and sol-gel process (low temperature synthesis). 

Surface / Structural analysis

  • Structural analysis of X-ray diffraction pattern of polycrystalline bulk sample using Rietveld software (fullProf) and Poudrix.
  • Strain and structure analysis of X-ray diffraction pattern of epitaxial strained/polycrystalline thin films.   
  • Surface/structural analysis by AFM / HRTEM / SEM.

Electrical, magnetotransport, dielectric and thermal measurements

  • Electrical and magnetoresistance characterization (77-350K, using liquid N2) of thin films and bulk materials by four probe technique, and also made some four probe set-up during my PhD research work.
  • Electrical measurement by four probe method using cryostat (10-300K, using Helium gas).
  • Analysis of resistivity data in various resistivity fitting models using origin software.
  • AC susceptibility measurement with temperature variation form 77-300K for bulk manganite materials using lock-in-amplifier.
  • Analysis of variation of magnetization with temperature and magnetic field, measured using physical property measurement system (PPMS) (Model: Quantum Design).
  • Dielectric characterization (77-450K, 20Hz to 2MHz) of thin films and bulk materials.
  • Thermopower characterization (77-450K) of thin films and bulk materials.
