Job Summary:
KR Mangalam University is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Librarian to support the efficient operation of the university library. The Assistant Librarian will assist in cataloging, managing digital and physical resources, supporting research activities, and helping students and faculty access library materials. The role also involves maintaining library records, organizing book collections, and promoting an engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Library Management & Support:
- Assist in the acquisition, cataloging, classification, and organization of books, journals, and digital resources.
- Maintain and update the library database, ensuring easy accessibility of materials.
- Manage library circulation, including issuing, returning, and reserving books and resources.
- Ensure the proper arrangement and shelving of books and materials.
User Assistance & Research Support:
- Guide students and faculty in finding relevant academic and research materials.
- Assist in conducting literature searches and providing reference services.
- Provide training sessions on how to use library databases and digital resources.
- Help users with plagiarism detection tools and referencing/citation guidelines.
Digital & E-Library Management:
- Support the integration and maintenance of digital library resources and online databases.
- Assist with digitization and indexing of library materials for easy access.
- Manage library software and e-resources (such as OPAC, remote access tools, and research repositories).
Library Events & Engagement:
- Organize library events, workshops, and book exhibitions to promote reading and research.
- Encourage student and faculty engagement with library resources through newsletters and updates.
- Collaborate with academic departments to support curriculum and research needs.
Library Administration & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with university policies and library best practices.
- Keep track of overdue books and manage fine collections if applicable.
- Assist in preparing reports on library usage, acquisitions, and user feedback.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Professional & Academic Qualification: (Regular Mod only)
- Master in Library & Information Science from any Central University
- Master in any Academic Degree from any Central University
- Additional Qualification:
- UGC NET in Library & Information Science
- PGDLAN, Library Automation and Networking from CSIR or any Govt. university
- In-depth knowledge of D-Space & Koha
- Private & Correspondence degree holders are not required.
