On 25th September 2019, 144 students of School of Legal Studies participated in Legal Aid Awareness Programme held at Moot Court Hall, organized by Dr. Sulakshana Mukherjee Assistant Professor of Law, K.R Mangalam University. Dr.Sulakshana welcomed the guests on behalf of K.R Mangalam University and introduced with the importance of Legal Aid in legal career. She talked about constitutional provision Article 39-A which provides Right to Free Legal Aid to poor and weaker sections of society. Mr. Dharamveer Verma; Advocate District Legal Services Authority, and Ms. Madhu Berry; Road Safety Activist, also delivered lectures on different socio-legal topics such as, road safety measures, violation of traffic rules, maintaining cleanliness and after effects of selfie maniac people in our country. They showcased different videos to create awareness among people. They also exhibited different placards to sentient our students about the actuality and factual situations of life. Dr. Mita Poddar; Associate Professor, School of Legal Studies, delivered a brief speech about constitutional aspects of Legal Aid with reference to Sheela Barse case.

Bhavika and Parth two kids of class VI and III showed a LIVE performance to sensitize our students pragmatically.

On behalf of K.R Mangalam University, Faculty of SOLS along with Legal Society awarded certificates to Bhavika and Parth, as a token of appreciation, for their commendable performance.

The team praised our students for such a huge gathering and being so patient and enthusiastic in attending the session.

The aim of organizing this Activity was not only to bring future lawyers face to face with the harsh realities of law, but also giving the opportunity to apply and implement law practices even before entering the professional world. The step was taken as imparting legal awareness is the first step towards ensuring prompt and effective access to justice.
