‘Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel’

National Service Scheme (NSS), K.R. Mangalam University organized online Extempore Competition on Microsoft Team app on 11 July 2020. In the midst of new academic year beginning, this event was a breath of fresh air to the students, as they got to participate in something interesting, and invigorating.
The competition started with a screening round which was held on 10 July 2020, in which 70 students from different universities/ colleges send their videos, from which 20 students were selected. The selected studentsparticipated in the final round on the basis of their video speech on the topic “Is India in a position to boycott Chinese products”.

There were 3 themes for the final round:
1. Role of meditation/yoga to fight against COVID-19
2. Socio-economic impact of COVID-19
3. Do technological advances contribute higher employment rates??

The final round of this competition was conducted on 11 July 2020, in which all participants presented their best. Anisha Sharma from B.COM of K.R. Mangalam University won the first prize with her speech on the topic “Role of meditation/yoga to fight against COVID-19”. The second and third positions were earned by Avneet Kaur from CT Group of Institutions, and Samrat Dey from K.R. Mangalam University, respectively. There was also an inspiring presentation from Debora Rana from The Holy Kingdom School. Being a 8th class student, she presented herself in the most productive way among the university level students.
E-certificates were given to all three winners, participants and jury members for their great efforts. At the end, Dr. Chandra Mohan, NSS Coordinator addressed the participants and gave a personal vote of thanks to jury members, congratulated the winners and NSS team encouraging and hoping such participation in the future.
This Competition was supported and guided by the jury members; Dr. Pankaj Gupta from SMAS, Ms. Pooja Vats from SBAS and NSS officials; Dr. Neeraj Kumari and Mr Vinod Kumar. The event was well coordinated by Rishav Bhardwaj, Abhishek, Dr. Neeraj, Mr. Vinod and other team members.
