Induction Classes by School of Engineering and Technology

An induction program for school students was organised by School of Engineering & Technology from 8th – 11th June 2020. Industry Academia Interaction for Aspiring Engineers on “Latest Trends and Opportunities” was organized on 8th June 2020 by School of Engineering and Technology as the opening session for 4 Days induction program for budding engineers. The panelists were Prof. Kavi Arya, Professor, IIT Bombay; Mr. Tarachand Dhoundiyal, CEO, Skill Sertifika Pte. Ltd, Singapore; Col. Rajesh Dubey, CEO, AD Consultants, Gurugram; Mr. Harmanpreet Singh Gill, Business Head-India, Speedways Electric, Gurugram; Mr. Ratan Kumar Jha, Zonal Head, JK Cements Ltd, Gurugram. They shared their views on latest trends in engineering and how students should walk hand in hand with latest technologies. Students should see the new opportunities and they should follow their passion. This session was moderated by Ms. Charu Singh and Mr. Manish Kumar.
The session was followed by a detailed presentation on “Introducing JEE to engineers in making” conducted by Mr. Shri ram (SOET-ME), Ms. Sarah Khan (SOET-CE) and Ms. Saneh Lata Yadav (SOET-CSE). In this session various aspects were covered for the benefit of students. A light was thrown on the history of Joint entrance examination, changes in JEE pattern over the years, Admission criteria and number of applicants qualified year-wise. The students were also informed about the various academic programs in which they can take admission, the duration of that program along with the requirements of completing the program they opt.
The list of IITs, NITs, CFTIs and some eminent institutes which considers JEE Main ranks or conduct their own test for admission was shared with the students.
Day 2 was dedicated for problem solving and hands on JEE practice papers. Ms. Kriti Sharma and Ms. Asha Sohal explained to students how different subjects and areas are broadly classified based on last year’s papers and how tow to solve the problems. In the afternoon students got an opportunity to know what the various engineering disciplines and their career prospects are. Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Mr.Vineet Dahiya and Dr. Kaushal Kumar explained students the insight of every branches and their career prospects.
On 10th June 2020, School of Engineering & Technology (SOET) organized a session on “Doubts related to JEE Problem and admission procedure for Leading Engineering Institutes Engineering”. The session was initiated by Ms. Sarita-Assistant Professor (CSE) who discussed about JEE, its eligibility criteria and previous year cut-off. She explained about JEE papers and mode of examination. Mr. Arvind Kumar-Assistant Professor (ME) described about counselling procedure and Seat Allotment by JoSAA(Joint seat allocation authority). He also conversed about online Registration process for JEE Mains Counselling and procedure for seat allocation.
There was discussion about different rounds of JEE Counselling. The last topic about frequently asked queries related to JEE mains was discussed by Ms. Minakshi Katoch-Assistant Professor (EEE). She also discussed about open and closing ranks of different IIT’s and NIT’s for the previous years. In the End there was doubt session with students of different school from Delhi-NCR. Overall, it was an interactive Session and a good source of information was shared among students.
On 10th June SOET explained about project-based learning in KRMU and its importance in today’s world. As technology becoming an increasing requirement across every industry today, it seems logical to effectively deploy technology to make the world smart and better and to make it feasible, faculty are trying their best to inculcate and imbibe innovative practices.
Next was the presentation by Ms. Anjali Singh and Ms. Gauri Aglave on the topic "Engineering as a Career". The main focus of presentation was to apprise them about career options after pursuing Bachelor of Engineering Degree. The fundamental engineering disciplines covered were Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Electronics & communications. The presentation started with a short introduction to Engineering discipline, followed by explaining students about the scope and career options in each of the engineering disciples. The skills required for different career paths were also discussed. The new age career options in Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, Data Science, data analytics etc. were elaborately explained.
Four-day induction programme came to end by a webinar with Alumni interaction. The KRMU engineering students got Placement in various reputed companies like BMW, IBM, INFOSYS, HPCL Refinery Vizag, And Speedway Electric, Studiokon, Genpact, zfunds and many more since 2017. Some of the engineering students got selected for a PG degree in Germany, Pennsylvania (U.S). They all shared his/her experiences about the K.R. Mangalam journey as engineering students with the participants and engineering students.
