Lecture on ‘Nanoworld of 2D Materials’ by Dr. Mukesh Kumar Thakur

21st September 2020

21 September 2020: Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science Club organized a Guest Lecture ‘Nanoworld of 2D Materials’ by Dr. Mukesh Kumar Thakur. Dr. Mukesh Kumar Thakur is Postdoctoral Fellow at J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences-Akademie věd České Republiky, Prague.

Dr. Thakur did his Ph.D. from the Institute of Biophotonics, National Yang Ming University,Taipei, Taiwan. His research work is focussed on 2D materials and Upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) based thermal and optoelectronic devices including (Desalination, Photodetector, Optical Limiting material, Surface Enhanced Raman spectroscopy).

Dr. Thakur presented his research work. He explained in length about the nanomaterials, different types of nanomaterials and 2D materials. He also discussed the applications of 2D materials and future technologies based on these nanomaterials.

The presentation was followed by a discussion session in which Dr. Thakur replied to the queries of students. Students were very excited and enthusiastic to know about the latest research on nanomaterials.

The session was organized by Dr. Pawan Kumar and Dr. Diwakar Padalia from School of Basic and Applied Sciences and was coordinated by Dr. Dilraj Preet Kaur. The lecture was attended by more than 50 participants. Dr. Pawan Kumar presented the vote of thanks.
