Students of the Fashion Design had the opportunity to interact with industry expert Mr. H. P. Singh, with an in-depth technical session conducted by Mr. M. P. Singh, Managing Director. The session focused on strengthening students’ practical understanding of fabrics, weaves, and surface development techniques widely used in the garment and textile industry. Through detailed explanations and physical demonstrations, students were introduced to a range of fabrics including velvet, PV (polyester–viscose blend), cambric with jacquard effects, canvas, tusser silk, and poplin, with emphasis on their structure, properties, and end-use applications. The session further covered traditional and advanced weave structures such as dobby, jacquard, satin, duck weave, and herringbone weave in tweed, along with combinations of dobby and satin weaves to enhance visual and textural appeal.
